Privaatheidsbeleid

This policy explains how MAD Mobile (Pty) Ltd, trading as MobileNamix (registration number 2020/843328/07), collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use mobilenamix.co.za or apply for a phone, as required by the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Last updated: 23 October 2026.

Who is responsible for your information

MAD Mobile (Pty) Ltd, trading as MobileNamix, is the responsible party. Our Information Officer is Adam Bowen (CEO). We are based in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. You can contact us at info@mobilenamix.co.za or 061 045 1975.

What we collect

• Your name, SA ID number, cell number, WhatsApp number, email address and home and postal address.
• Your employer's name, your monthly income, how often and on which day you are paid, and whether you are under debt review.
• Your bank details for the debit order: account holder, bank, branch code, account number and account type.
• Copies of your ID, proof of address, your latest payslip and your bank statements for the last 3 months.
• The phone you choose and your contract details, and your online signature: the name you typed, the date and time, and the internet (IP) address and browser you used.
• Messages you send us through the contact form.

Why we use it

• To assess your application, confirm your identity and address, and check from your payslip and bank statements that you can afford the phone.
• To prepare, sign and manage your lease agreement and your debit order mandate, and to collect the admin fee and your payments by debit order.
• To contact you about your application and your contract.
• To meet our legal and tax obligations, and to prevent fraud.

We use your information because you asked us to (your consent when you apply), because we need it to enter into and carry out your contract, and because the law requires it. We do not sell your information or use it for marketing without your permission.

Who we share it with

• Our debit order provider and the banks, to set up and collect your debit order.
• Companies that help us run our business, such as our website host and email provider. They may only use your information to provide their service to us, and must keep it secure.
• Authorities, when the law requires us to.

Our website and email providers may store information on servers outside South Africa. When that happens, we make sure the information is protected to a standard similar to POPIA.

How long we keep it

Copies of your ID, proof of address, payslip and bank statements are deleted automatically 6 months after your application is completed, declined or withdrawn. We keep your application details and signed contract for as long as your contract runs and afterwards for as long as the law requires (usually five years for financial records).

How we protect it

Uploaded documents are stored in a private folder that cannot be opened from the internet, and only authorised MobileNamix staff can see applications. Your ID number and account number are never sent by email. The website uses an encrypted (https) connection.

Cookies

When you open Track my application, we set one cookie so the page remembers your application for two hours. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Your rights

You may ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email info@mobilenamix.co.za and we will reply within 30 days. We may need to keep some information while your contract is running or when the law requires it.

If you are not happy with how we handled your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator: inforeg.org.za.
